The Friends Academy After-School Program provides a fun, safe, and nurturing environment for students at the end of the school day until 5:30 p.m. The After-School Program offers a variety of activities to suit each student’s needs and interests, including study hall and enrichment options.
To sign up your child for the After-School Program, complete this registration form or contact the school at (508) 999-1356.
After-School Program activities are as varied as the children themselves. Students in Early Childhood through 2nd grade meet each day in the kindergarten rooms, while 3rd through 8th graders meet in the library. All children have access to school facilities including the gym, the playground, arts-and-crafts spaces, and open areas for outdoor games in good weather. Daily snacks are provided.
The same expectations for appropriate behavior for the school day apply to the After-School Program.
Throughout the year, the After-School Program offers different enrichment options. These may include cooking classes, technology workshops, dance classes, photography, knitting, and other academic, creative, or athletic opportunities. Download and register for fall 2019 enrichment offerings.
Enrichment courses begin in September, January, and April. Course descriptions along with dates, times, and costs will be sent home prior to the beginning of each session. Pre-registration is required. Students may participate in these classes and then go to the After-School Program if needed.
Study Hall (Homework Club)
Middle School and Sally Borden Program students can spend the first hour of their After-School Program day on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at a proctored study hall in Mr. Dorsey’s classroom. Study hall is a quiet environment where students can ask questions and get help organizing their work. You can either choose this option ahead of time on your After-School Program registration form or from week to week depending on your child’s needs.
The After-School Program is overseen by director Charles Pelissier and assistant director Koryn Serpa. Gail Coble, Mary DeMello, Melanie Cioper, Colton Almeida, and Zoelle Morrissey will be returning to the program. They will be joined by Melissa Davies from our Early Childhood program, Kay Gomes, and Briana Acevedo-Gallagher. Additional assistants will be on hand to keep the teacher-to-student ratio as low as possible.
Hours of Operation
- Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 3:05 – 5:30 p.m.
- Wednesdays 2:10 – 5:30 p.m.
The After-School Program begins on the first day of school in September and ends on the last day of school in June. We observe all school holidays. Care is also available on Parent/Teacher Conference days and the morning of Class Day.
The After-School Program follows the same snow day policy as Friends Academy. If emergency snow conditions develop during the day, the program may be canceled even if regular classes are in session. In this case, parents who have registered their children for after-school care will be notified during school hours.
For pick-ups after 5:30 p.m., there will a late fee of $10.00 for every 15 minutes of additional time. Repeated pick-ups after 5:30 p.m. may result in the suspension or loss of After-School Program privileges.
- Complete the After-School Program registration form.
- Include a $50.00 non-refundable registration fee per child.
- Return both to the school office.
