After eighth grade, Friends Academy students move on to a wide variety of independent, parochial, and public secondary schools. Our graduates are well prepared and confident, with a strong sense of self and openness to new experiences.

The Secondary School Process

We work together with families on each step of the secondary school process to ensure that students and parents feel supported and transition to schools where they will thrive.

Beginning in the spring of seventh grade, the Head of School meets with families to discuss secondary school options and think big picture about the process. Friends also hosts a Secondary School Night, where admissions officers from various independent schools explain the application process and answer questions from families. In the summer, rising eighth graders can take an optional SSAT prep course on campus.

In the fall of eighth grade, as families begin their secondary school visits and applications, administrators conduct mock interviews with all eighth grade students. Math and English classes also review for the SSAT, which is administered on campus in November.
