The Sally Borden Program admissions process has three goals: to help each family learn about the Sally Borden Program; to get to know each student and family; and to select students who will flourish both socially and academically. Start the process now by email Peter Bidstrup, Director of Enrollment, stating your child’s name and age, grade applying for, and your phone number.

How to Apply to the Sally Borden Program

1. Begin With an Inquiry

Once you email our Director of Enrollment, we’ll contact you to learn more and assist you through the application process.

2. Submit Recent Testing Information

Before the initial admission interview, submit a recent (within the last year) comprehensive psycho-educational evaluation which includes a Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Wisc-IV), and achievement and diagnostic testing. The student’s learning profile needs to be delineated in a written report.

3. Schedule a Parent Visit

During an initial interview with the Director of Admissions and the Director of the Sally Borden Program, parents tour the school and learn about the program, while school personnel learn more about your child’s learning style and profile.

4. Complete an Application

If you feel that the Sally Borden Program is a good fit for your child, contact us to begin the application prior to your child’s two-day visit. There is a $50 application fee. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with official acceptance notifications and enrollment agreements sent beginning in March.

As part of your child’s application, please send a signed Student Records Release and Teacher Evaluation Form to your child’s current school. These documents need to be submitted to Friends to complete the application. It is your responsibility to follow up with your child’s school to ensure these documents are sent directly to Friends Academy in a timely manner.

5. Two-Day Student Visit

During a two-day visit, students visit appropriate grade-level classes. This allows teachers to observe students in a variety of settings and gives students the opportunity to feel more comfortable with their surroundings. The teachers create a portfolio of the student’s work, and a member of the Admissions Committee also spends some time with the student.
